Abba is an expert fisherman, a crafty inventor, and an even better father.

Abba is an active fisherman, husband, and father. When he’s not hard at work keeping his family afloat, Abba enjoys inventing home gadgets and teaching Abby important lessons about life and fishing. He hopes to buy his own fishing boat one day, but Abby’s shenanigans keep him busy in the meantime.

Abby is a human whirlwind, always eager to learn and go on new adventures.

If Abby has something to say, you’ll hear it. She’s a person of action. Incessantly curious, Abby questions everything. Her search for knowledge and adventure can take its toll on her loved ones…and her talking animal companions, Sheep and Pigeon. With her best friend Joshua, she meets Jesus at exactly the right moment, changing the way she sees the world and her place in it.

Eema is skilled at cutting hair and nurturing Abby’s insatiable curiosity.

Eema is in awe of Abby’s curiosity. Working as a hairdresser and keeping track of her daughter’s whereabouts keeps Eema plenty busy, so she’s grateful that she has a village.

Hilarius loves Rome, and won’t let anyone forget about it.

The son of a strict Roman officer, Hilarius has been taught that Rome is the best, and he won’t let anybody forget it. When he’s not busy trying to impress his dad or talking about how great Rome is, Hilarius is delivering one-liners that are, well, hilarious. But the more time he spends with Abby and Joshua, he starts to learn that there is more to life than being a soldier, and he might even learn some lessons. But who knows; kindness wasn’t built in a day.

Jesus always has time for all of His followers, no matter how small.

He first appears as a mysterious stranger, camping in an open field. He is the Jesus of The Chosen. He created the universe, yes, but He still has a sense of humor. He’s the greatest teacher that ever lived, but He’s never too busy to be interrupted by Abby and her friends.

Joshua is a kind and patient friend to Abby, even though he usually questions if her actions are safe.

Joshua is deeply creative, doesn’t like conflict, and is allergic to danger. He’s a dreamer whereas Abby is a doer. Jesus calls Joshua, “Joshua the Brave” because while Joshua is always timid, Jesus calls us what we're not, encouraging Joshua to find the bravery in himself. Joshua is loyal, thoughtful, and always there for his best friend Abby, whether he wants to be or not.

Pigeon always has an opinion to share with Sheep, and she’s almost always right.

If a little birdy told you, it was probably Pigeon. A bird wise beyond her feathers, she spends most of her time observing and hanging out with Sheep, who she finds to be the most interesting animal in all of Capernaum. She has an expert sense of what’s happening around her and is not shy about sharing her thoughts, which is almost always what needs to be said. (Even if her human friends only hear chirping.)

(Oh, don’t forget smelly and lazy.) Sheep is no longer one of one hundred, but rather one of a kind.

Abby’s semi-domesticated smelly non-pet Sheep’s spirits are lifted when Abby befriends him but his life changes forever when he meets Jesus. He still gets into trouble and will always tell Pigeon what’s on his mind.
